What Is Salesforce? A Guide To Understanding Salesforce

In recent years, there has been a big surge in Cloud Computing Technologies. One such technology which has had an immense impact on the world of computing is Salesforce. In this blog, I will introduce you to Salesforce and will answer: What is Salesforce? Why use Salesforce? Where is Salesforce being utilized? And why companies are looking for professionals with Salesforce Certification Training?

Why is Salesforce.com crm better than other crm packages?

I don’t think there is a straight answer to this question. There are a lot of CRM packages available like Oracle Siebel, SAP CRM, Salesforce.com, Sugar CRM etc. and each have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. I have worked in both Siebel and Salesforce CRM and found that both suits different needs.

Siebel was a very popular choice till recently. It is an excellent CRM with 30+ verticalized applications catering to almost every industry ranging from Banking, Pharma, Telecommunications, Hospitality etc. I have seen complex Siebel implementations including public sector implementations, telecom processes, Order management etc. Siebel has a large customer base but the CRM landscape is now tilted towards Salesforce.com

Salesforce.com or SFDC is a cloud based Customer relationship management software. It is based on subscription model where the company has to pay for per user license/month. It started as a CRM package but has gradually evolved as a platform for developing cutting edge applications over cloud. World is fast moving towards Cloud Computing and that can be possibly the best reason to use Salesforce CRM / force.com applications for your CRM and related needs. Other major reason to use Salesforce are flexibility with using force.com platform, three major releases / year, beautiful user interface, can be accessed over many device including iPad’s, iPhones, blackberry and many others, strong Salesforce community, strong Service cloud and sales cloud capabilities, good social media integration, thousands of Apps available over AppExchange, no maintenance overhead, faster rollout, low cost of implementation, very little upfront cost etc.
